Sierra Trek Run Descriptions

  • Wednesday/Thursday Overnight SUV Historic Trip

A narrated historic tour of the back roads and trails above spectacular Lake Tahoe that is designed for all four-wheel drive vehicles. Learn about the Donner Party tragedy and take in a bird's-eye view of Lake. The group will camp along the trail, and be back to main camp for Thursday dinner.
  • Thursday Fordyce Run

This run traverses the Fordyce Creek Trail from Indian Springs to Meadow Lake. Stage at 5:30 am, depart at 6:30 am. This is a highly technical trail with a rating of 9. One locking differential and minimum 35" tires are required. Drivers should be extremely experienced if attempting the Fordyce trail using these minimum vehicle requirements. Larger tires, lower gearing, suspension lift and two locking differentials are all recommended to improve overall driver experience and success. 50 vehicle limit.
  • Friday Fordyce Run

  • Friday River Run

Run the trail backwards from Meadow Lake to Fordyce Creek, then back up the trail to main camp. Staging at 6 am in main camp, depart at 7 am. One locking differential and 35" tires are required. A 3" lift is highly advised. 35 vehicle limit.
  • Friday Signal Peak

This run stages on Carlyle Road approximately 0.2 miles from Eagle Lakes Road. Staging is at 8:00 am… we will be departing at 9:00am. This year we will again include the Pierce HOV loop before heading up to Signal Peak. The Signal Peak trail is considered moderate but is forever changing and there are a couple of obstacles to make things interesting. A recent change in accessibility to Rattlesnake Road will make it necessary for us to return to the staging area rather than exit through Cisco Grove.
  • Friday/Saturday ATV/UTV Run

This run will follow roads and trails in the Meadow Lake area and will include 4-5 hours of history, scenery, and ATV/UTV fun. Departs Meadow Lake at 10:00 am. Two types of registrations are available for this run: a full run option that includes all meals, camping and entertainment; and a run only option (no meals or camping). No vehicle limit.

Additional Notes

  • The Fordyce Creek Trail presents an extreme rock crawling challenge. It requires precision driving skills and a well-maintained and equipped vehicle. Trail crews assist progress where needed. They DO NOT carry spare parts for you. In case of breakage, participants should be prepared to repair their vehicles using tools and parts they have brought with them. In some cases, trail crews will assist with those repairs if possible. While it is the intention of Sierra Yrek organizers to help every participant reach Meadow Lake, this is sometimes not possible in cases of unusually catastrophic damage. In such cases, it is ultimately the participant's responsibility to remove their vehicle from the trail.
  • PG&E camping not included.
  • Sierra Trek in camp activities include vendor show, kids games, in-camp poker run, lake activities, Sierra Trek Saloon, band, our famous raffle, and fiesta-style camping (camp anywhere you want).
